Financial Market Course from Yale University

shiller

I spent this weekend “joining” a finance course from Professor Shiller, Yale University. No… no… I didn’t go to Yale University. I just “watched” the course online on Academic Earth.

For those who don’t know, Professor Shiller is an American academic, economist and best-selling author. He is quite popular these days after the housing burst in the US. He (with his two other economists) introduced Case-Shiller Index to track house pricing.

The course is very interesting, especially for me who come from a totally different world. There are 26 lectures in total, discussing about banking, insurance, stocks, options as well as financial crisis.

Finally… Some Pictures from Cambridge

Finally… I had time to take some pictures here in Cambridge, Canada. As you may know, I have been very busy with relocation and a new job in the last couple of weeks. Yes… really didn’t have time to do anything else than work.

This morning, I had a chance going to a park near our apartment. Well… winter is just over in Canada, spring has not really come yet; so the pictures are so…. don’t know what you call it in English. I think the park is going to be very beautiful in spring time. I’ll upload mode pictures later.

Anyway, the first and second picture below are the views from our apartment (living room). As you can see, our apartment is just on the river side.

While walking on the park, I met this little goose. Not sure what he/she’s doing… crossing the street like a lonely goose.

The last picture might be the most interesting one. I managed to take a picture of two birds waiting for sunset. Wait a minute, didn’t I say I went to the park “in the morning”? How come the birds are waiting for sunset? Well… it’s just a trick of photography. I changed the white balance of the picture; so it looks “warmer”.

An Update from Ontario

Life 2 Comments »

ontario

So… what’s been happening to me in the last 3-4 weeks? I haven’t updated this blog since I left Vancouver. Here is the summary:

  • After we arrived in Ontario, I was a little bit shocked with the weather. The temperature was about –20 degrees Celsius. I had a very bad flu for about 2 weeks.
  • As you may know, I have started a new job at Research in Motion. The company has been keeping me very busy; which is a good sign because my job is secure for now.
  • Then I had to deal with the hassle of relocation. Oh boy… I always hate relocation. We have to find a new place to live; I have to request for a new health insurance; I have to change my vehicle registration; I have to change my driving license; blah… blah…. I feel that I have just moved to another country although I just moved to another province.
  • About 2 weeks ago, there was bad news from Indonesia. My mother-in-law has kidney problem; so wife is now in Indonesia to take care of her.

Well… that’s all the update from me. I hope I can write more postings after I have settled here in Ontario.
