In Memory of My Dad

Today around 4:00pm at the office, I received an SMS from my mother. The SMS was short. It was just telling me that my dad has just passed away last night in Solo, Indonesia.

I was really shocked. I heard that he went to Surabaya just a couple of weeks ago. I never heard that he has any disease or something. After receiving SMS from my mom, I couldn’t think any more at the office. I decided to go home earlier. I can’t keep thinking of my dad.

Honestly, I was not that close to my dad. My parent got divorced when I was still in the elementary school. I rarely meet my dad even when I was still in Indonesia. However, I still feel very sad now… after all, he is my dad. Without him, I won’t be in this world.

Good bye dad… I am going to miss you…. I thank you for all your advices that you gave to me… I can only pray for you now….

PS: I’ll be flying back to Indonesia this weekend….

Weekend Cooking

Life 1 Comment »

No big news from me. I just spent this weekend cooking. Yes, cooking… :)

The first one is called Ayam Bakar Kalasan (= Kalasan Grilled Chicken?). It’s pretty easy because I just used ready-made seasoning. Boil the kitchen with the seasoning and then grill it.

The second one is my favourite food, Gudeg Yogya (don’t know the English word of it). It is a traditional food from Yogyakarta made from jackfruit. This one is really difficult to make. Not only that. It also takes the whole night to cook it because we need slow-cooker.

This is a follow-up to my previous posting, Layoff Everywhere. I have compiled five signs that might help to determine whether you will be laid-off soon or not.

  1. Your company’s stock price has dropped more than 90% since October last year.
  2. Management keeps saying “The fundamental of our company is still great. We expect to have an excellent growth next year.”
  3. Your company started to have all-hands meeting every week; but you have absolutely no idea what they’re talking about.
  4. Everybody at your office plays Solitaire or checks their Facebook everyday. It is a good sign that your company doesn’t have projects any more.
  5. Your coffee machine is broken and nobody cares to fix it.

If you are experiencing those signs above, prepare your RESUME right now!!!
