Chinese New Year Parade 2008
Photos February 10th. 2008, 6:36pmToday, I watched Chinese New Year Parade 2008 in Chinatown Vancouver. It was actually my first time watching Chinese New Year. Yes, my first time… no kidding. Well…. although I am an Indonesian Chinese; I am not a “real Chinese”. I don’t even speak Chinese.
Anyway, I have uploaded some pictures of Vancouver’s Chinese New Year Parade to my Picasa Web Album. I just highlight the interesting ones here. The first one is the picture of Chinatown’s Gate two hours before the parade. Yes, I came 2 hours earlier.
The next one is a picture of me trying to adjust my camera’s settings. Yes… I am still a beginner in photography.
According to Chinese lunar calendar, this year is the year of rat. Not really…. it is the year of Mickie Mouse. Look at this guy holding Mickie Mouse in his hand.
As usual, we always see lions dance and dragon dance in Chinese Near celebration.
And… not to forget… the tradition of red envelopes. The red color of the envelope symbolizes good luck.
