Earth Quake Struck Yogyakarta!
Life May 28th. 2006, 4:38pmAn earth quake with a magnitude of 6.3 struck Yogyakarta on Saturday morning at 5:54am. More than 4,500 people died and the number is still counting. I have sent SMS to my friends in Yogyakarta; fortunately most of them are fine (I am still waiting for reply from some of my friends).
Yogyakarta is so special for me because I studied there for more than 6 years. I have many friends living there. In fact, my wedding about 2 weeks ago was also in Yogyakarta because it is very close to my home town (about 40 kilometers).
Let’s pray to all the people who died in this earth quake. Let’s also hope that thousand of injured people there will recover very soon. My deepest condolence and sympathy to them.
If you wish to make donation to survivors in Yogyakarta, you can do it online via Canadian Red Cross or other organizations.
Update (29-May-2006): For Indonesians, here is the list of some bank accounts to help survivors in Yogyakarta.
